Milling Cutting Speed

Cutting speed is defined as the velocity of the workpiece as it passes by the cutting tool specified in surface feet per minute or (SFM).  It is a direct function of the workpiece or tool diameter and the number of revolutions per minute (RPM) that the spindle is turning
Vc = 0.262 × D × n
 
Vc  = Cutting Speed (SFM)
Dc   = Cutter Diameter
n = Rpm (rev/min)
